Actually, we’rein a celebratory mood this year as this is our thirtieth year! Hard to believe that yours truly has been here 28 of those years, a factwhich clients often remark on saying ‘you must be the longest servingeditor of any County magazine..’ I think it’s meant as a complement,…actually, I’m just waiting for the parole hearing to see if I can get time offfor good behaviour.January is also a time we make those darned New Year’s resolutions. You know youcan’t take these too seriously as you get to my age (35 and a few months) but youcan’t help but laugh and play along. Rather like a drunk uncle who comes aroundonce a year; we play along, because it seems harmless enough. It is a good time though to rid ourselves of poor habits and perhaps pick up betterones, like taking better care of ourselves and the people around us, or learning toslow down a little and enjoy life more. Or in my case, drink far less coffee. Fortunately, we can all be more successful at it now, thanks to downloadable Appswhich should keep us on the straight and narrow. Some track the number of stepswe take, while others help us to watch our finances or our health, and if you have ahabit to get rid of, there’s an app for that too! It all makes you wonder how wemanaged without our mobile phones and tablets. Anyway, if all that sounds just a bit too scientific an approach, rest assured we’vegot some great articles in this month’s Lincolnshire Today which will set you off onthe right foot. As you’ll see from the magazine, our staff have been busy at theCounty’s society balls, while our fashion guru, Dominic, has some great suggestionsfor a new ensemble. After all you can’t possibly be photographed in the same gowntwice now can you? Don’t forget also to pay our web site a visit as that’s had acomplete makeover in line with our 30th anniversary and is a veritable goldmine ofinformation for readers – you’ll find it at www.lincolnshiretoday.net In the meantime, may I wish all our readers and advertisers a very happy, andprosperous, 2016. The report’s findings were announced at the GLNP’s fourth annual conference held near Louth. The keynote was given by the report’s author,Dr Simon Woodward who undertook the research. He says: “Our research suggests that nature tourism in Greater Lincolnshire alreadygenerates around £58 million for the economy every year, supporting more than 850 jobs. It is important, therefore, that we make the most ofthe opportunities that exist to get visitors to think a little bit about the landscapes they are enjoying and the wildlife that lives here.”GLNP chairman, Richard Chadd, adds: “The landscape and ecology of Greater Lincolnshire is a key part of its attraction and we now have theevidence to demonstrate the contribution it makes.”LATEST NEWSSay goodbye to weddingstress with Bentley Hotel’swedding fayre Fortunately, for any would-be newlyweds, the forthcomingwedding fayre from Bentley Hotel takes all of the stress out anotherwise sensational day. It has been excavated to make way for the foundations of the new IsaacNewton Building. The artefacts are believed to be from the Mesolithic period, dating back tobetween 9000 and 4500BC. They are thought to have been created and used bypeople who would come and go seasonally to the south of what is now the cityof Lincoln. Allen Archaeology, which carried out the work, said that such findsfrom that period are uncommon, making their discovery important. Once all the archaeological work is completed the finds will be deposited atThe Collection museum in Lincoln city centre.2016 – the perfect year to moveinto a brand new Cyden homeIn 2016 national award-winning,Laceby-based builder Cyden Homes, areable to offer more choice to home-buyers across Lincolnshire than everbefore.
