So what’sthe secret to flawless skin? It’s much easierthan you think.HydrateYour skin reflects your diet. Lack ofhydration in your kidneys can cause darkshadows under the eye and dehydrated skinshows up fine lines that can age you. Startby increasing your water intake for onemonth. I always suggest this first becauseit’s free easy to find and a skin miracle. Yourbody needs 8 glasses of water per day tofunction properly, if you can make this ahabit your skin will glow with the benefits. SleepAlso free and a dramatically underratedskin remedy. January is perfect for cosynights in bed so use the dark evening toyour advantage and get some sleep. Skinrepairs overnight so a good night’s sleep isgood skincare too. Work outSweat contributes to the rebalancing ofour skins pH, vital to keep it healthy andprotect it from invading bacteria.Oxygen and improved blood flow feedyour skin cells and are needed for newhealthy cells to grow. Wrap up warm, get outside and enjoy the beautifulLincolnshire countryside. AdaptSkin changes season to season, yet manypeople use the same tried and testedskincare for a lifetime. I’m often asked howoften a change is needed. For the UK,your skincare should change with thedemands of the season so approximatelyevery 3-6 months. As your products runout ask a professional for advice, that’swhat we are here for. If you’re nervousabout making big changes then stick withthe same brand but introduce a serum forwinter or a stronger sun protection factor(SPF) for summer to get the best results. RelaxStress is scientifically known toaccelerate cellular ageing, so slow downand relax. Read a book, meditate or booka massage. Success is not limited to those withwills of iron, however, and there are waysto improve our odds – even if it’s just bythe smallest amount. It all depends onwhat you want to achieve and how yougo about seeking it.In terms of what we set, it’s no surprisethat at the top of most people’s lists arelifestyle and health choices – mostnoticeably to lose weight, get fitter andstop smoking. These are the big three, and though resolutions can also includethings like making a better work-socialbalance or earning more money, chancesare we’ve all desired one of the big threeat least once in our life. One might beinterested to know that the tradition ofresolutions can be traced back toBabylonian times, which is around2,000BC. That’s around four thousandyears’ worth of broken resolutions, sostart off the new year by not feelingalone if you’ve failed before.According to Benjamin Gardner, expertin behaviour change at King’s College,London; “The reason many resolutions failis because people are being unrealistic.”He points out that if a person does not domuch in the way of exercise currently, then a complete lifestyle overhaul withregular trips to the gym will be hard bothto start and keep going. “The otherreason is people not being ready tochange,” he adds. “They think thatbecause it’s the New Year, they’reobligated to say they’ll change theirbehaviour. But once they face the realityof what they’re doing, they give up.” So there’s plenty of reasons why wemight and could fail on our resolutions, but what tips and tricks are there to helpus succeed? Luckily, there are a few.Make one resolutionKeeping your resolutions can be hardenough without filling an entire boardwith them. Choose one, stick to it, andyou’ll feel a lot less stressed. Choose a resolution you wantto achieveIt may seem obvious, but in truth it isnot. If your resolution is to quit smoking, then to have any reasonable chance ofsuccess it has to be a decision made foryou and not because of pressure fromsomeone else.
