< PreviousProfane parrots to be moved out of earshot Remember in our November 2020 issue when we covered the foul-mouthed parrots at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park? Well, there’s been a development in the continuing sweary saga. A group of five African grey parrots, which were adopted by the park last year, quickly gained infamy after spouting off some rather colourful words. Although many found it rib-tickling, needless to say it ruffled a few feathers. As if that wasn’t enough, some of the park’s other birds have picked up the rude words. Unsurprisingly, the parrots will be moved to what the park has described as a “discreet blue corner”. Moreover, there’ll be a disclaimer giving visitors a polite heads up. watercooler 70 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY LincolnshireToday @lincstoday lincolnshiretoday.net Have we missed anything? Send your rib-ticklers to d.cuthbert@blmgroup.co.uk The lockdown has been hard on all of us, but it’s also brought out the best of humanity and demonstrated the true meaning of community. In this special edition of By the Watercooler, we bring you three stories that have emerged over the lockdown that have made us smile and, we hope, will also bring you joy. Woman breaks COVID rules for a burger A hungry Lincolnshire woman has recently been fined after driving more than 100 miles across three counties to get a burger. Travelling with her sister, the woman drove from her Lincolnshire home to Scarborough to get a McDonald’s meal. The police said this was not classed as essential travel. Because obviously. The woman, as one would hope, was fined. Despite tens of thousands of people having died from COVID, with millions more infected, people are still flouting the rules, putting themselves and others at risk. Just don’t. Not for a burger, not for anything. Village residents next to Belton House near Grantham were inundated with hundreds of tourists trying to get to the house for a recent lightshow. The reason being is that when their satnavs failed to take them to the right place, they drove up driveways to knock on doors and ask for directions. It was so bad, one villager said people had barred a road with wheelie bins. To try and prevent this sort of thing happening again, Belton House owners, the National Trust, said that it was installing extra signs and, possibly, looking to create a unique satnav code. 70.qxp_Layout 1 26/01/2021 12:27 Page 1NEW 2021 RANGE To discover more about our extensive range of timber products, including a wide selection of fencing and gates, visit: www.caldersandgrandidge.com Email enquiries@caldersandgrandidge.com or call our experts on 01205 358866 9 Clifton Street, Stonefield Park Industrial Estate, Lincoln, LN5 8LQ tel: 01522 546118 email: sales@lincolncopycentre.co.uk www.lincolncopycentre.co.uk SINGLE USE MENUS / NOTICES AND SIGNS / INFORMATION LEAFLETS LOGOS AND BRANDING / STATIONARY / BUSINESS CARDS / NEWSLETTERS POSTCARDS / FLYERS / BROCHURES / VINYL BANNERS / ROLLER BANNERS / POSTERS / PLAN PRINTING Printing / Copying Graphic Design More than 40 years in business CLICK & COLLECT SERVICE Working within COVID-19 guidelines 71.qxp_Layout 1 26/01/2021 12:28 Page 1www.oms.uk.com 01530 833 533 info@oms.uk.com Helping you to perform at the highest level OMS have delivered consultancy and training services throughout the Midlands and UK for over 22 years.
