While learning the skills may be difficult, most golf clubs will have instructors happy to teach the ropes. If you’re looking to lose weight or tone your figure, it’s been found that a round of golf is more efficient than a fast and furious gym session. On average an 18-hole game of golf could burn around 900 calories. And considering the sport is slower paced, it also means you don’t feel as exhausted at the end of it, as you might if you ran a marathon. This is a fantastic deal since the daily intake of calories for a woman is 2000 and a man 2500, which means you’re burning up to forty per cent of your recommended daily intake without ending up heaving and panting or suffering sore muscles for the next few days. But perhaps golf isn’t your thing, perhaps you want something faster paced. Well, Lincolnshire has that in spades as well, from paintballing to airsoft, tennis to football, rugby, kayaking and even wakeboarding. It’s just a case of finding out where they are and being willing to give them a go. That’s not to say conventional methods of staying active like jogging, marathons and the gym aren’t worth engaging in – they absolutely are, and regular, repetitive, exercise will always be better for the human body. But try to keep that fun and lively too, either by going with a friend, getting involved in groups and classes at the gym itself, or even just by spicing up your routine every other week. Plenty of gyms will be able to suggest new routines and some may even have personal fitness trainers who will custom build one for you. Variety is key and, we’re told, the spice of life – so even if getting active in itself is something you need to do often, you can still spice up the activities you choose. Treat yourself this spring, step out of your comfort zone and try something a little more exciting. You’ll probably enjoy the experience. © Shutterstock / Alexia Khruscheva© Shutterstock / elbud79-83.qxp_Layout 1 18/02/2019 15:19 Page 2LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY 81GO FOR ITDo you suffer from… Foot Pain? With many sports, this boils down to ensuring that you have the correct footwear and making sure that it is performing the way it should. In most sports, the shoe itself has a part to play in assisting you to achieve your best, be this a specific sole on a running shoe, a stud on a football boot, or the spikes on a golf shoe; however, the shoe can only ever be part of the process. If we take the game of golf as our example here, you could own a pair of the best golf shoes available today, and yet the key to ensuring that stability and mobility are maintained, rests primarily with understanding what your foot does in that shoe. If you have existing issues such as Hallux Valgus (or a bunion to you and me), suffer with an arthritic foot, plantar fasciitis, fallen arches, in fact, any number of foot problems, then it is vital that you seek help and advice from a qualified Orthotist at the earliest opportunity, as this can reduce pain, and prevent future deformity or injury. Playing on regardless will also be doing your game no favours either, as lack of stability and pain resulting from not addressing underlying issues, will only serve to hinder your progress towards the 19th hole! Gone are the armies of the world, there to protect us. Gone are the temples to our gods, there to lift our spirits. The lights go dim and then out across the world as hope fades. When you’re at your best, you can move mountains, and right now, you have the inner strength to do just that. Taurus Apr 21 - May 21 If you appear too assertive, you could lose the goodwill or confidence of others because they won’t realise that you feel threatened and trying to bolster yourself up to look and sound convincing. Gemini May 22 - June 21 Even though on the surface you appear to be calm and happy, deep down you probably feel increasingly frustrated by a number of things that seem to be beyond your control, especially if you are experiencing a cash flow problem. Cancer Jun 22 - Jul 23 You’re under pressure to get a job done. Keeping your mind focused on any project is difficult when your head is buzzing with some great ideas. Whilst you are confident in many respects, there are areas in which you suffer self-doubt. Leo Jul 24 - Aug 23 Intimate relationships promise to brighten your life, especially if you have been feeling under the weather or just bogged down with work. A new friend will prove very helpful and supportive, especially if they understand your situation in life and able to point you in the right direction. Virgo Aug 24 - Sep 23 Major changes at work will not be good for everyone involved, but for you they will be wishes fulfilled. Certain people will find themselves out of the loop whilst you suddenly take centre stage. A budding new romance looks likely to hot up with you wanting more than just a casual friendship. Libra Sep 24 - Oct 23 A new friendship could blossom into something more important and meaningful indicating that at last you have met someone who is exactly on your wavelength. You need a break. A change of scenery will work wonders on re charging your ailing batteries. Scorpio Oct 24 - Nov 22 When it comes to issuing social invitations out, choose the people whose company you enjoy and not the ones who bore you rigid or whom you have long since lost respect for. Where money is concerned, it’s time to think smart by refusing to part with your cash. Sagittarius Nov 23 - Dec 21 You are allowing your heart to rule your head instead of the other way around. Little wonder you are behaving indecisively and dithering over the most trivial matter.. Someone will make a declaration of their feelings for you that will come as an enormous shock. Astrology by Linda Lancashire 0776 4466381 www.lindalancashire.co.uk teresastanley1@btinternet.co.ukCapricorn Dec 22 - Jan 20 The good news is that because you actually enjoy your own company these days and not interested in putting up with any more rubbish, you will now begin to attract new people into your orbit who are more suitable and understanding of who you are and what you stand for. Aquarius Jan 21 - Feb 19 A potential new lover will blow hot and cold. One minute you will be bombarded by text messages, e mails and phone calls and in the next instance, complete silence. Come on, you have been down this road before, so are you really daft enough to fall into the same trap again? Pisces Feb 20 - Mar 20 If you are currently experiencing domestic problems then it’s important that you are honest about how you are feeling and how the situation is affecting you, because after all, your health is your wealth and you cannot afford to involve yourself in an overly stressful situation at this current time. your starsLincolnshire Today’s guide to the astro month ahead...SUDOKU competitionClosing date for entries is: 20th MARCH 2019 To enter just email the numbers that appear in the yellow squares to: competitions@blmgroup.co.ukWin a £20 voucher to spend with any of our advertisers in this issue.Last month’s solutionS2E0PJ1U8L157628349 289314567 436759821 875463192 641592738 923187654 394875216 762931485 518246973258437691 946821375 371695842 429718563 683259714 715364289 567942138 892173456 13458692788.qxp_Layout 1 18/02/2019 11:51 Page 1We’re looking for those with a zest for life to join Lincolnshire Today’s sales team!
