While rosy cheeks can be attained from being out in the chill, for most of us, a reddened wind-whipped face isn’t exactly the picture of beauty. So to compensate, many turn to foundations with golden pigments. However, foundations of this kind can look heavy in the warmer months or worse, so instead invest in a decent CC cream. These colour control or correcting creams are an industry darling with many top beauty experts swearing by them. They’ve won our hearts over and can help to reduce skin redness, sallowness and also improve uneven skin tone. Just what you need to kickstart your spring look into gear. As much as we’d like to leave the cold months behind us, the increase in temperature does bring with it the nasty side effect of oily skin. The simplest and most effective antidote is to ditch the moisturiser. Don’t worry, there’s method in the madness, so trust us here. Moisturisers are great for hydrating skin and providing a barrier against the elements but when it’s hot and we sweat, oily skin is to be expected. So try using a lighter serum this spring. As well as having better skin penetration, they actually offer better hydration. Despite it having noticeably warmed up, this is England, and the sun won’t suddenly bless us with its presence simply because we want it to. Rather than hoping to get some early rays, why not kick-start your spring look with a fake tan. There are a dizzying number of options on the market, but it’s worth spending a bit more to get a good quality home tanning kit which will undoubtedly be kinder on skin. Also, try to prioritise a natural look and take things slow. Yes, there’s a temptation to go full-on bronze, but it’s much harder to tone down a fake tan than top it up. Less is more when it comes to make-up, especially with the switch from winter to spring which can be a real shock to skin. So don’t exacerbate the issue by slathering on layers of thick makeup. Let your skin breath and tone things down. The nude make-up look is still popular, while pastel shades are sure to be a hit this season. Now, we need to talk about hair. Most of you will be familiar with the lank, lifeless and frizzy hair that can result from the winter weather. Spring can be just as bad with its tepid temperature and the onset of April showers. So arm yourself with a good quality conditioner and try not to over wash your hair. By washing every day, you’re only stripping out all the natural oils. This is what protects your hair against the elements. Regularly brushing and working your fingers through can be just as effective. Now that we’re moving into spring, with its warmer winds and kinder temperatures, its time to cast off your winter beauty routine.
