< Previous70 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY WHAT’S ON The Lincolnshire Show is back for its 140th edition on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th June 2025 – and this landmark year promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Firmly established as one of the UK’s leading county shows, The Lincolnshire Show is a true celebration of rural life. Organised by the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society (LAS), the Show offers a vibrant mix of agriculture, heritage, entertainment and education, and this year’s milestone event will shine a spotlight on the Show’s rich history while looking confidently to the future. Held at the Lincolnshire Showground – a 270-acre events venue just outside Lincoln – the Show will once again bring together the very best of the county, with thrilling displays, hands-on activities, top-quality livestock, live music, equestrian events, interactive exhibits, and a wide range of food, drink, and shopping. As part of the 140th celebrations, organisers are excited to announce that Matt Baker MBE will be joining the Show on Thursday 19th June. A familiar face from BBC programmes including Countryfile, The One Show, and Blue Peter, Matt is a BAFTA and RTS award-winning presenter, passionate about rural life and farming. He has inspired millions with his television work and bestselling book A Year on Our Farm, and visitors will have the opportunity to see him live at the Show. Another exciting addition for 2025 is Rural Voices – a brand-new feature area dedicated to sharing the inspiring stories of people who live and work in the countryside. From grassroots farming to rural enterprise and innovation, this new zone will offer talks, interviews, and discussions with individuals who are helping to shape the future of rural communities in Lincolnshire and beyond. This year also sees exciting new developments in the Main Ring, supported by returning sponsor White Hart Hotel Lincoln. As the 2025 Main Ring Sponsor, the hotel will play a key role in delivering an unforgettable programme of entertainment, including new acts and returning favourites. Elsewhere at the Show, visitors can enjoy more than 600 exhibitors, a huge variety of artisan food and drink, horticultural displays, vintage machinery, and family- friendly attractions. The Countryside Area will feature exciting demonstrations from Jixenwell Gun Dogs, along with the return of the Farriers, giving visitors a chance to see traditional rural skills in action. Advance tickets are available now and can be purchased via the Lincolnshire Show website at www.lincolnshireshow.co.uk. Tickets are priced at £26 for adults, £8.50 for children (under 5s go free), and £62 for a family ticket. Booking fees apply. Asembo Hairdressers was offered over £12.4m when power was failed to be restored within 12 hours, instead of a later corrected amount of £95 — only a slight miscalculation! With National Grid apologising for the error, the salon owner was quoted by the BBC joking that they must have mistaken the business for Heathrow Airport. While still grateful for the compensation, the owner added that he was “not as grateful as he would have been” if he had received the millions. Fields full of waste Volunteer litter pickers embraced a smelly situation as they cleared a site near Scunthorpe of more than 150 bags of discarded dog poo — in the space of just a day! With 156 sacks discarded at Everest Playing Fields in Ashby, Scunthorpe Litter Pickers posted a picture of the mass of waste on social media to give dog walkers a wakeup call. The group also discovered other items during their cleaning sessions, including a crisp packet from 2002. watercooler 74 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY LincolnshireToday @lincstoday lincolnshiretoday.net Have we missed anything?
