The show is part and parcel of our county’sculture and heritage and it’s so heartening to see it go fromstrength to strength. But the best news is the Lincolnshire Today team will bethere once again – in prime position by the main ring. Asusual we’ll have Off Limits, the county’s leading party band, to keep youentertained, and there’s free refreshments courtesy of Jocasta’s as well as ourgoodie bags and an extra special competition where you can win amazingprizes. Seriously, you don’t want to miss out on this event – it’s our best yet.The importance of the Lincolnshire Show can’t just be measured in thefabulous prizes we’re giving away, but in the way it continues to support thelocal economy – both rural and otherwise. Sure, the Show can be a bit of achore when it’s tipping it down both days, but I’m hoping we got all our rainout of the way in the past four weeks. The Lincolnshire Show is, of course, the jewel in the crown of the county andcountry shows around the region, and we’ll be there in force. However, you’llalso find us at the region’s other events including Waddington, Reveseby, andHeckington to name but a few. The summer is stretching out before us onceagain – make sure that whichever show you’re at, you come and have a chatwith us on our stand. Itmight take four or five seconds to read or write a message, but a person could drive the lengthof a football field in that time.Lincolnshire Road Safety are warning distracted driving is any non-driving activity thatdistracts the driver from the primary task of driving and these fall into three main types:Visual – taking your eyes off the roadManual – taking hands off the wheelCognitive – taking your mind off what you’re doing. While all distractions can endanger road users, texting is the most alarming because itinvolves all three types of distraction. Texting causes drivers to take their eyes and mind off theroad and at least one hand off the wheel for a few seconds. This is enough time for a vehicle infront to stop suddenly or for a person to run in front of the vehicle.Walkers are welcome in CaistorAfter six months hard work, Caistor has been awarded “Walkers are Welcome” status. The scheme helps strengthen a town’s reputation as a place for visitors to come toenjoy the outdoors, bringing useful benefits to the local economy.
