The County’s show season would often roll all three of these into oneeach year, but seemed to take an age to come around and, when itfinally arrived, our school teachers would put a damper on ourenthusiasm by declaring there would be a test on it afterwards – ugh. Now I know that if you’re eleven years old, a year is about as far away as Jupiter. But when you find yourself in that middle age of accelerated space timecontinuum, a year flits by in a nanosecond. It seems like only yesterday I wasmeeting and greetingour many readersat the Lincolnshire show, theBrocklesbyshow, Epworth showthe Wragbyand Revesbyshow, and ofcourse the Wintertonshowto name but a few (or should I say phew) This year we’re celebrating our thirtieth anniversary in business in true styleonce again, starting with our corporate hospitality marquee at the LincolnshireShow. As regular readers and clients know, we’re situated right by the ringsidewhere guests can recharge their batteries, enjoying refreshments, including adelicious buffet - courtesy of our very good friends, Jocastas catering. Keeping the party going, will be Lincolnshire’s leading party band ‘New Limits’and the man who seems to have learned every word to every song ever written -the inimitable Nigel Winn. I’m pleased to say that, over the 30 years we’ve published magazines, quite afew of our clients and readers have become good friends and there’s nothing welove more than the chance to catch up. But, at the speed these years are flittingby it’s probably better we do it sooner than later! In the meantime, check out what else the County has to offer, this summer, overthe next 140 pages of your favourite county magazine and, of course, don’t forgetto check out our online magazine and news site at www.lincolnshiretoday.net. One of their projects, On YourDoorstep, invited local people to nominate public areas they feltwould benefit from some artistic intervention – and Spalding andDistrict Civil Society proposed to start a public art trail in Spaldingtown centre inspired by the part that the market place has played, specifically the hiring fair. Joseph Hillier was one of the artists who responded to the pubiccall out and he was commissioned by Transported in partnershipwith the Civic Society last summer to create the series of publicartworks. His approach involved using 3D scanning technology tocapture models both recreating old historic photographs fromSpalding, as well as contemporary, such as texting. The 3D scanswere then cast into small bronze sculptures, which are situated ondifferent buildings located around the town centre. The final bronze pieces were unveiled at a special event in lateApril, and the trail will be complete by the middle of May. Often they will haveexperienced a difficult home life and will be lacking theguidance and support that young people of this age need. This is the case for 13 year old Sophie who, following achaotic and neglectful upbringing, is unable to live with herbirth family and now lives with her foster carers, Malcom andAnna. Although she initially struggled with routine andboundaries, she is now able to accept and enjoy the guidanceand support which they provide.Unfortunately, there is a shortage of foster carers forteenagers. It can be a demanding role, but it is also highlyrewarding, as two young people who have been in foster caresaid: “Life with my foster carers is amazing.
