Summer is when Lincolnshire comes alive in many ways, withnumerous county shows and events across the region, and also the bigone of the year – the Lincolnshire Show. Smaller grants of upto £1,000 are also available through the Small Grants Scheme.Each project must help conserve and enhance the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or promote economic and social wellbeingwithin the area. Up to 75% of total project costs can be applied for.Councillor Colin Davie, Executive Member for Economy and Place, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity forpeople further enhance our beautiful county in all sorts of ways. We lookforward to receiving applications and getting what will undoubtedly besome valuable projects up and running.”New ‘Fatal 4’ squad launched tocombat Lincolnshireroad crashesA new and specially trained team is set to be out on Lincolnshire’sroads, tasked with tackling some of the main causes of crashes in thecounty.The new Safer Roads Team (SRT) has been established to focus on“Fatal Four” enforcement, which includes the main reasons why collisionscan happen. These are: drink/drug driving, mobile phone use, excess speedand not wearing a seatbelt.The SRT consists of a trained unit of 10 Special Constables and twoSpecial Sergeants, who will work alongside EMOpSS colleagues from theBoston and HQ Roads Armed Policing Teams. Since the start of 2018 there have been 14 deaths on Lincolnshire’s roadswhich have resulted from 12 collisions, compared with 14 deaths from 13collisions at this time last year.Last year there were alsoover 3,300 road trafficcollisions on the county’s roadsresulting in 2,577 people beinginjured, of which 519 peoplewere seriously injured and 49died. The majority of thecasualties were not at faultor to blame for thecollision but aninnocent victim.latestnewsWinterton prepares forsculpture trail – it’s sureto be a hootThis summer Winterton, north-east of Scunthorpe, willbe playing host to its own Sculpture Trail organised bylottery funded organisation Winterton 2022.It will consist of 26 tractor and owl sculptures, and willrun from Friday 25 May to Friday 14 September 2018.With the support of local artists Fiona Caley, and MandyKeating, schools and community organisations have beeninvolved in designing and creating of the sculptures whichwill be displayed around the town.Fiona said: “The Winterton Sculpture Trail has beencreated by a real mix of people. As artists we adapted tothe availability of abilities of the groups. I think that’s whatmakes this trail different, and dare I say it, unique?”It is hoped that the Sculpture Trail will provide a “boost”to the towns businesses.
