Scunthorpe June 1 Mark Watson: This Can’t Be It - The Plowright Theatre We’ve all had some pondering to do about the fragility of life recently, but don’t worry, skinny national treasure Mark Watson has it covered. At 41, he’s halfway through his days on earth, according to the life expectancy calculator app he paid £1.49 for. That life is in the best shape in living memory...but one problem remains, and it really is a huge one. Spiritual enquiry meets high-octane observational comedy as the ‘Taskmaster’ survivor, multi-award- winner and ‘No More Jockeys’ cult leader attempts to cram a couple of years of pathological overthinking into an evening of stand-up. Maybe we’ll even solve the huge problem. Doubt it, though. Lincoln June 2 - 5 The Great British Jubilee Picnic - Lincoln Castle Celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee at Lincoln Castle this summer. Providing the perfect setting, the Castle’s grounds will be dressed in celebratory colours throughout the weekend. With live entertainment from the Castle bandstand and plenty of space to bring your own picnic and soak up the atmosphere of this historic occasion. This Summer, we confront our own political landscape as Shakespeare’s epic tragedy Julius Caesar takes on startlingly new relevance. Conspiracy to kill, public broadcast of cunning rhetoric, a divisive fight for Greatness. Ancient Rome has never felt closer to home. When Cassius and Brutus decide Rome’s leader Julius Caesar poses a political threat to their beloved country, there’s only one solution. Diane Page, winner of the 2021 JMK Award, brings Shakespeare’s brutal tale of ambition, incursion, and revolution to life. Grantham June 8 - 11 A Tomb with a View - Grantham Dramatic Society - Guildhall Arts Centre A dark and eerie night. A mysteriously empty library. A gloomy solicitor reads the last will and testament of Septimus Tomb. The bizarre family and household staff listen intently to learn who’ll bag the old boy’s millions. So far, it’s a classic thriller. However, before long the weird and wonderful cast of characters will have you howling with laughter. While a bit of bunting and themed paper plates might be in order, a plethora of more bizarre items have come to the fore for the significant milestone. From Queen and corgi air fresheners and salt and pepper shakers to Union Jack Morph Suits, major brands have also jumped on the Jubilee bandwagon, with Heinz for instance releasing bottles of ‘Salad Queen’ and ‘HM Sauce’. If you are planning to buy any themed items, however, after thousands of pieces of Platinum Jubilee merchandising were rather humorously plagued with the spelling error ‘Platinum Jubbly’, just remember to double check for any mistakes! watercooler 98 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY LincolnshireToday @lincstoday lincolnshiretoday.net Have we missed anything?
