While it is close to the city, theproperty boasts expansive views of thecountryside, balancing the best of both worlds, giving access to Lincoln and all its shops, schools and leisure facilities, while beingremoved enough from the hustle and bustle torelax and escape to nature.Jo and Tom Siddans have lived at South Viewwith their children for just over four years. Thehome, however, has been in the family forgenerations. It was actually built by Jo’s greatgrandfather for her grandfather, and after hesadly passed in 2013, it was then Jo’s uncle whoinherited the property, which the couplesubsequently went on to buy from him.Jo and Tom have made extensive renovationsto the home to make it what is today, blending15 Á12-17.qxp_Layout 1 18/07/2018 12:59 Page 2REALLY REALLY LOVE SALESStores in Grantham, Boston, Scunthorpe & online www.oldrids.co.uk 12-17.qxp_Layout 1 18/07/2018 12:59 Page 3LINCOLNSHIRETODAY15READERS’ HOMESclassic features with contemporaryelegance. The couple gave the property anew roof, rewired and replumbed it, putin solid hardwood windows, created anew front entrance, moved walls to makethe home more open plan, built anextension and installed a new bespokeoak staircase.Upon entering the property, one isgreeted by a glazed entrance hall, watercloset and utility room. Walking throughthe home on the right there is thebespoke triple aspect kitchen diner, thatJo and Tom put in during theirrenovations, with a range of fitted walland base units complete with centralisland. The kitchen also features slidingdoors which open onto a covered terraceand garden. In the summer this is Jo’sfavourite room of the house. She says:“The glass of the doors and windowsmake it feel like you’re in the garden, itbrings the outside inside. I watch the kidsplaying and open up the doors. The glasshere is definitely my favourite feature ofthe house.” And, with the sliding doorsopen, it’s great for getting that summerbreeze inside the home.Moving through the house, the internalhallway downstairs is open plan andincorporates a highly useful home office. To the left of the house there is the diningroom which is currently being used by thefamily as a playroom. The left side of thehouse also leads to the triple aspectreception room with a bay window anddouble doors that open up onto thegarden. This is another of Jo’s favouriterooms to spend time in the winterbecause of the roaring stove with its logburner, which makes it cosy during thosecold days and nights. The stove is also aprime example of how classic features aredelicately integrated throughout the16 Á12-17.qxp_Layout 1 18/07/2018 12:59 Page 416 LINCOLNSHIRETODAYREADERS’ HOMEScontemporary feel of the house. The upstairs of the house features a glazed galleriedlanding, off of which there are 4 bedrooms and a familybathroom. The master bedroom hosts its own luxuriousensuite and dressing room, put in by Jo and Tom, andhas sliding doors that lead onto a west facing balconywith stunning views.Outside, there are outbuildings that have thepotential to be converted, barns, a log store, a courtyardand a garage. There are also picturesque grounds of 0.7acres, and a possible further 4.4 acres are available byseparate negotiation. Jo noted that the house backs onto open fields and is nice and private as it is not lookedon by any neighbours. The garden features mature trees which Jo says hergrandfather imported from all around Europe to add toher grandma’s beautiful garden, making them quite rare. The rest of the landscaping was done by Jo and herhusband during their renovations. They put a new bankaround the property, added the wooden fence, whichmakes it safe for playing children, and added the granitestone patio. The home is accessible through secureelectric gates and a pedestrian side gate, which lead tothe house’s large gravel driveway. After putting so much work into the property, however- Jo and Tom are selling? As farmers they have a smallholding just half a mile away and need to move onsite tobe with their two herds of cows - a herd of black andwhite Friesian and a herd of Lincoln Red - for calving. Assuch South View is on the market for just £550,000 and isbeing sold by Savills.FOR THATOLD FASHIONEDPERSONAL SERVICEBRIGG BEDSCome visit our showroom at Princes Street, Brigg, DN20 8HGTel: (01652) 651828 Email: briggbeds@hotmail.co.ukwww.briggbeds.co.uk10% OFFVOUCHER**OFFER TO BE USED ONLY ONCEPER CUSTOMERSUBJECT TO TERMS AND CONDITIONS12-17.qxp_Layout 1 18/07/2018 12:59 Page 5goldingyoung.comAuctions Valuations House Clearancewww.sofaa.orgThe Lincoln Auction RoomsT: 01522 524984 E: lincoln@goldingyoung.comThos. This means plenty of guests will be descendingon your kitchen and dining room this August, and so you’llwant to have them both looking their best. Far from proposing a complete interior re-design, mixing up furniture choices canhave a major impact with little disruption. After all, the kitchen is the heart of anyhome, so it’s important to keep it looking its best. Freestanding kitchen units are only growing more popular as the years go by, aspeople move away from fixed units in favour of something more mobile. Not onlydo these units allow a kitchen to be re-organised at a moment’s notice, but theyalso mean that replacing pieces is a simple affair. As we enter the zenith of summer, dinner parties and social gatherings will be attheir peak. The best gatherings this time of year are those that utilise the garden,so thinking of the garden as an extension of the kitchen will leave guests delighted. Here it’s worth picking up units that can be used both be used in the garden duringsummer and put back in the kitchen again. There’s plenty of garden furniture that’sstylish enough to be used inside the kitchen too, so don’t be afraid to let yourcreative side out and have fun mixing things up.
