This time of year presents endless possibilities – despitethe extra hours of daylight shortening children can still enjoy moretime outside and, as the day gracefully slides into night, the countydoesn’t go into hibernation, so adults still have more time to enjoythemselves. It’s best not take it for granted though, because all too soon those days when thesunlight lingers late into the evening and the air feels a little warmer will be behind usonce again. So, to ensure you round off the summer doing something memorable we’ve gotthe perfect issue for you – with everything from hiking across Lincolnshire’scountryside to enjoying live music. There’s something for everyone too, with thenew season’s fashions, plus advice for those who’ve popped the big question. And,for those of a less romantic persuasion, you’ll just love our interview withLincolnshire’s very own aerobatic pilot.Personally speaking though, I’m happy to just read about that and let someoneelse enjoy the adrenalin rush – I’ll settle for an enjoyable day out visiting one of ourmany featured art galleries and round it off sipping a cocktail in one of the county’shidden gems of a restaurant. I’ll also be visiting my favourite spot on the veryoutskirts of the county – an authentic Japanese lanterned garden, which is featuredin this issue too. We really are spoilt for choice here in Lincolnshire and while you may not havethe time to tick everything off your bucket list, that’s no reason not to give it yourbest shot – but be quick, because the winter woollies may soon be needed. Whatabout those from factories, offices and shops, all ofwhich have increased in the county, and rural crimewhich has apparently climbed by 28%?What he also fails to point out is that less peoplebother reporting crime nowadays as we’ve lost faith inthe police who can’t be bothered to come andinvestigate – instead they just give you a crime numberfor insurance purposes. Clearly what we need is more police on the streets, not spin doctors and more road traffic cops!K WilliamsLincolnReaders’lettersWe’d love to hear from you. I really enjoy those fantastic images which reflect thebeauty of nature and wildlife in our ever diminishing countryside. As we all know, the countryside is no longer fit for kings - as itwas in the day of yore, when Dick Turpin is said to have escapedcapture by riding over a secret path hidden beneath the Humber,or when two mischievous creatures called imps were sent by Satanto do evil work on Earth and for reasons best known to themselveslanded upon Lincoln Cathedral, where they smashed tables andchairs and tripped up the Bishop!
