Well, if you’re planning to bethe host with the most during the festiveseason then it’s well worth gettingprepared now, unless you want yourChristmas entertainment to end up inmid-January.Indeed though you may not wish toadmit it, your party probably won’t bethe only ticket over the festive season soyou’ll doubtless want to offer somethingthat ensures it sticks in the mind.Christmas parties can be great fun butthere’s always the danger of your guestshaving their fill of turkey and tinsel in therun-up to the big day. By going forsomething a bit different, you can besure that your event will stand out fromthe rest!Happily, most of our region’s topvenues have dedicated staff who can helppoint you in the right direction. Their aimis not simply to roll out the sametemplate every single party ever held inthe venue has followed to the letter, butto provide a professional and securebackdrop for your own ideas. That’s why a lot of venues now makeuse of marquees – to offer a completelyblank canvas that you can completelytake over with your vision. Many of ourregion’s venues certainly have beautifuldécor but they aren’t always the kind ofbackdrop you might want for your event,so this gives you another option. Don’tworry – even if it’s freezing cold themarquee will be toasty warm. Themodern marquee is a world away fromthe flimsy structures of the past.It may well be the case that you’reresponsible for deciding on yourcompany’s festive soiree – and have arather bigger budget to throw around. You’ll also probably have to beareveryone’s tastes in mind, however, sodon’t expect a 100% turnout if you’regoing for something totally off the wall.If you decide that you see more thanenough of your colleagues during theworking day and can’t think of anythingelse you could possibly talk about out ofhours, you could take the opportunity tomake use of an existing party in one ofLincolnshire’s top venues rather thanmount your own. Many are hostingfabulous events in the run-up to the bigday and taking part in one of thesemeans you can enjoy all the festive funwhile everything’s prepared for you. There are some sensational soirees inLincolnshire this Christmas – but get inearly before they’re booked up!It’s beginning tolook a lot like...It’s beginning tolook a lot like...PHOTO: SHUTTERSTOCK.COM/PRESSMASTER102-103:Layout 1 15/9/14 08:37 Page 2104 LINCOLNSHIRETODAYSUDOKUcompetitionClosing date for entries is: 20th OCTOBER2014To enter just email the numbers thatappear in the yellow squares to:competitions@blmgroup.co.ukWin a £20 voucher tospend with any of ouradvertisers in this issue.Last month’s solutionA2U3GJ2U0L213584679687192435594763182172835946958246713346917258439678521765321894821459367Aries Mar 21 - Apr 20Despite all the ups and downs in your lovelife you seem to be thriving on living on aknife edge. There’s all the latest news online at www.lincolnshiretoday.net, updated throughout themonth, we’re on Twitter and Facebook, and you’ll see our reporters and cameras at events across the county.Love LincolnshireEvery month, we speak to someone from Lincolnshire to see what they love about thecounty. Here, we catch up with aerobatics pilot extraordinaire Tom Bennett, currentlywowing crowds across the world as he competes in the Red Bull Air Race. What do you love mostabout Lincolnshire?I’ve always beeninterested in aviation. I wasborn in Shrewsbury andmoved to Lincoln when Iwas eleven and I realisedthat Lincolnshire wascompletely flat but hashuge great skies. I used tolive under the approach toConingsby so I wouldalways see jets flying over, and that was why I decided to follow my passion. How often do you get back to Lincolnshire? My aerobatic plane is based at Wickenby airfield and I’ve just started a new job atHibalstow involving parachute jumps which looks like it’s going to be great fun. Ipersonally don’t think there’s anywhere better in the country for aviation. It’s become abit of a hub for aerobatics – I know somebody at Wickenby who I think is going to be afantastic aerobatic pilot. Aside from the famous things like the Lancasters there’s an awfullot going on in the county.LincolnshireToday @lincstoday lincolnshiretoday.netStay in touch withLincolnshire TodayWe love to know what you think of Lincolnshire Today – so get in touch with usvia Twitter at @lincstoday or search for us on Facebook.
