Choosingthis plot of land was a no brainer for Peter and DebbieJackson, as their children were already attending a schoolnearby and because, as Debbie expressed, they simply loveWoodhall Spa. “There are loads of restaurants and Woodhallhas a nice al fresco and cosmopolitan feel,” she said.Woodhall Spa also boasts The National Golf Centre, whichhas a course named The Bracken, after which the home isnamed. An immaculate feature of the home is its 25 foot granddining hall with its limestone floor, which one enters intofrom the front door, and is one of Debbie’s favourite rooms14 Áin the house. Debbie said: “The hall is lovely, when we builtthe house I wanted a large hall, but also a dining room, andas I find we don’t use separate dining rooms very much, weopened up that space to have a big open plan dining area -but in that space there is also a little lobby area that acts likea little library.” The dining hall also contains a bespokestaircase leading upstairs. A reception room leads off of the right of the hall, butstraight ahead from the entrance, clamouring to bementioned, is the “games room” - which is currently a poolplaying room with double doors that open to the indoorswimming pool complex: Debbie’s other favourite feature ofthe home, which hosts a shower room, that is great to freshenup in after a swim, and a sauna. This wing of the home isWith an indoor pool, solar panels, a sauna and a grand dininghall, this home, built by its owners, is certainly set to be amodern classic.12-15.qxp_Layout 1 18/09/2018 10:37 Page 1HOMESLINCOLNSHIRETODAY1312-15.qxp_Layout 1 18/09/2018 10:37 Page 214 LINCOLNSHIRETODAYHOMEScertainly where the fun happens. With Peter working as akitchen designer by trade, it is nosurprise that the kitchen he created is setup with all the amenities one would needin an ideal way for cooking that enhancesyour every move. Leading off of thekitchen is a sitting room with an exposedbrick fireplace with a log burner, as wellas double doors that open to the garden. On its ground floor the house alsocurrently holds a hair salon that connectsto the home through a utility room, andhas its own exit to the front of the home. The room is highly useful for Debbie, whohas always been a hairdresser and nowdoes her friends’ hair in the salon once ortwice a week. The salon, however, couldeasily become, as Debbie suggests, ahome office or gym, or could even beused an annex if one were to combine itwith the double garage that leads off of it.Up on the first floor is the large masterbedroom with a dressing room andensuite bathroom, along with four morebedrooms, and three ensuites, one ofwhich is a Jack and Jill bathroom. Upanother floor there are two attic bedroomsand a family bathroom.Outside, to the rear of the home, thegarden hosts established trees and anelevated paved terrace with an ironbalustrade and views across the property’slawns and trees. Say, forexample, you’ve got a gold and blue theme going on in a bathroom.Perhaps hang an Egyptian style canvass or a bust of a pharaoh. While thiswill certainly make a statement, it works within your already establisheddécor so won’t look out of place. Some of the best ways of making a statement is by swapping out someof the things you take for granted. Imagine the room you wish to spruceup. Hold it in your mind’s eye for a moment. Now, write down everythingyou can remember about that room. Once your list is completed, take itwith you and compare it to what’s actually in the room. See how muchyou’ve forgotten? Maybe it’s the light shades or the curtains, but weguarantee something will be missing from your list. Anything that hasbeen snubbed is fair game for replacing with something with morepizzazz. Besides, curtains, lampshades and rugs are simple ways to addsome identity to a room. So go on, let loose. Just don’t go too wild. © Shutterstock / Photographee.eu STATEMENTMaking aExpertly versatile, theSoho Wall Light fromGarden Trading will addlight and style to anyroom, especially wherespace is limited.16-17.qxp_Layout 1 18/09/2018 10:39 Page 1LINCOLNSHIRETODAY17HOME TRENDSThe Hopper Table Lampfrom David HuntLighting features a littlehare on a stack of booksin a bronze resin finishwith antique brassmetalwork.
