He’s also a little54 046-055:Layout 1 8/10/12 12:04 Page 8challenged when it comes to fashion,as can be seen by the clothes andhairstyle he normally sports. Clearly, urgent intervention was needed, so, acomplete makeover was arranged forhim. His wild hair is going to betamed by Jim from Toni & Guy, whilehe’s going to be sporting some newoutfits picked out by Darren fromMasdings and Oxygen. First a professional looking stylewith his mop. Michael normally dyeshis hair, as his natural colour is nearwhite, but as Jim explains, “It’s goodto let the grey shine through.” Insteadwe’d go with a lighter brown dye, butleave it on for less time, letting thegrey shine through on the sides andin the parting. With a directionalstyle, clean round the hair and cut tohis face shape, Jim cuts close throughthe sides and a textured look on top.The colour is a Dia colour Homme, which is a five minute long colourprocess especially for gents, thatblends away grey hair quickly anddiscretely. The shade blends well withthe previous colour on the ends andenhances the natural colours to createa masculine yet natural tone. A seasalt spray to prepare the hair forstyling, by Label M, sea salt gives thehair a stiff beachy texture. Once thehair is dry the style is finished withLabel M matt paste for a non-shine,textured look. Next stop is to the combined storesof Masdings and Oxygen, by theNewark marketplace, where Darrenhas set aside some different outfits forMichael to try.As seen from the results on thesepages, the transformation is complete.Darren’s eye for detail is second tonone and although Michael wasn’ttoo convinced by the bow tie hecertainly came away with a farimproved sense of style. The once fashion challengedMichael is now, thankfully, curedthanks to the efforts of Lincolnshire’sindependents! 54 LINCOLNSHIRETODAYFASHIONAnerkjendt Cary Blazer £99Scotch & Soda the hunter bow tie £21Scotch & Soda bleach out shirt £89Nudie Sharp bengt jeans, Raw £85Replay return brogues £140Farah Livingstone rush jacket £135Penfield Henson Knit £105Suit Leslie Shirt £55Dockers Alpha Khaki Chino £85Converse All Stars low £39046-055:Layout 1 8/10/12 12:04 Page 9GANTCarrying on the legacy of its East Coast heritage,American Style is classic GANT at its best. It is therefore essential to seek advice from a beautyconsultant or therapist at one of Lincolnshire’s many leading salons. The colour of your skin changes throughout the year and, as thosesummer tans fade, you must select a new shade of foundation. Youmust also take into consideration your skin type - normal, dry orcombination? Jenna Menard, Clinique Global Colour Artist, explains,“Focusing on what you want from a foundation should be the firstpriority. Since everyone’s skin is different, it’s important to pick a textureand consistency that works for your specific needs. For example, if you havevery dry skin you might want to consider a cream or liquid foundation andavoid powder formulas altogether. If you are looking to simply even out yourcomplexion, without too much coverage, you may want to avoid full coveragefoundations and gravitate towards a tinted moisturiser. If you have slight redness incertain areas, you can focus on masking just the redness, rather than coveringeverything with concealer.”Choosing a foundation can be intimidating, as selecting the most suitable formulationinvolves many variables - texture, consistency, shade and, not forgetting, the added benefits! Butalways remember - the aim is to achieve a look which is flawless, natural, fresh and youthful.Once you have selected the correct foundation, make sure that you complement this baseproduct with a fabulous blusher – either cream blush for that ‘pinched’ skin look or powder blushfor natural highlighting. Finish the look with smoky eyes plus a lip tint or a bold and brightlipstick which will ensure you stand out from the crowd. Don’t forget, key trends this seasoninclude neon ‘brights’ and funky designs for nails and lips, plus a rainbow of fabulous eyeshadowshades, enabling you to experiment and mix and match to suit you and the occasion.
