The gallery partners, Marlene Robottom,Sue Hodson and Peter Segasby, have created a light and airyenvironment where objects, painting and marvelous displays areeasy on the eye and very well considered. Leading Londonarchitect Yasmin Shariff called it, “a perfect evening, lovelytouches to detail, great hosting and the most scintillating rangeof eclectic items for any quality interior. I photographed a fewitems and sent them to some of my clients, who I know will lovethem.” Pre-opening internet sales on paintings from Sweden gave thepartners confirmation the website images are clearly defined. The hosts were delighted, excited and happy to show off theirnew gallery concept of combining art with period, an idea thathas occupied their minds for the past couple of years.Peter Segasby says, “For the three of us it’s a dream come true.Owning a gallery, deciding the content - a gallery that containsboth contemporary art pieces and so many other period treasuresthat we love.” The team is understandably proud of exhibiting brilliant art bytalented artists from around the world. Varied styles andtechniques in paintings, ceramics, metal and glass sculptures aremixed with lovingly restored items from varied periods, somedating back to the 17th Century. Some items have great practicaluses; brilliant how a big period chest offers great storage facilitythat can house so much content, leaving spaces tidy, as well aslooking great - even in a modern environment. This great story comes with a profound realisation of howbeautifully unique items from various periods go so well together. The mix is testimony that time does not diminish the importanceof quality-designed items from a different era and that these cansit just as comfortably with modern contemporary pieces of art.90-91:Layout 1 13/10/14 12:50 Page 292 LINCOLNSHIRETODAYSUDOKUcompetitionClosing date for entries is: 20th NOVEMBER2014To enter just email the numbers thatappear in the yellow squares to:competitions@blmgroup.co.ukWin a £20 voucher tospend with any of ouradvertisers in this issue.Last month’s solutionS2E9PA2U3G213465897765893124489217635394581276827639541156742389672354918541928763938176452Aries Mar 21 - Apr 20Recent events may have left you feelingdisappointed and debilitated. See examples of Lawrence’s workat www.lawrencecoulson.comWhat inspires your paintings?I tend to be drawn to big skies andhorizons, having been surrounded by themgrowing up. I’m also a big fan of the coast asthe beaches are huge and very empty.Sometimes when the tide goes out you canbe the only person on the wet sand for miles. That’s where the sense of isolation and escapecomes from. If someone can take a look at mywork just once a day and escape somewhereaway from their office or car journeys thenthat’s fantastic. One of the best complementsI have received has been that my work issilently dramatic. What has inspired you in particularlyabout Lincolnshire?About three years ago, I moved to just outside Stamford and I’m seeing a whole newarea to paint and be inspired by. I’ve even started tackling the much-recreated LincolnCathedral!LincolnshireToday @lincstoday lincolnshiretoday.netStay in touch withLincolnshire TodayWe love to know what you think of Lincolnshire Today – so get in touch withus via Twitter at @lincstoday or search for us on Facebook.
