< PreviousRecord-breaking donkeys A duo of donkeys from a Lincolnshire sanctuary have trotted their way into the 2026 Guinness Book of World Records. At Radcliffe Donkey Sanctuary, in Huttoft, 12-year-old Dynamic Derrick has been named the tallest donkey in the world at 167cm (or 5ft 5 in), while Bambou has been celebrated for having the world’s longest donkey ears, measuring 35cm (or 1 ft 1 in). Described in a video for Guinness World Records as the best of friends, Derrick and Bambou are always together, despite their differences, with Derrick a “one off” donkey frightened of everything — even his own shadow — and Bambou being full of personality, though not having as good a hearing as you’d expect! Grimsby man parachutes into Tower of London A man who grew up in Grimsby has taken up residence at the Tower of London. Lee Fox, a former Pegasus Company Sergeant Major, has become the first member of the Parachute Regiment to be given the role of Yeoman Warder, or ‘Beefeater’, at the Tower of London. Appointed to the historic position, which dates back to 1485, he will join 34 other Yeoman Warders who live and work at the iconic site. Over the coming months, Lee will learn ‘the Story’ – the script of the famous Yeoman Warder tour which must be learned verbatim before he will be permitted to lead his own tours of the Tower of London. He will also learn the 21 separate duties conducted by the Yeoman Body each day, including the ancient Ceremony of the Keys; the closing ceremony that has taken place every single night for at least 700 years. watercooler 70 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY LincolnshireToday @lincstoday lincolnshiretoday.net Have we missed anything? Send your rib-ticklers to t.egginton@blmgroup.co.uk By the Rival North Lincolnshire villages who battle every year in a medieval pub game are set to gain a global TV audience. Dating back to the 14th century, the historic sport ‘Haxey Hood’ starts with a speech from a ceremonial fool stood in front of a bonfire, before participants scramble to push a leather tube (the ‘Hood’) thrown to the crowd to their favourite of four pubs in Haxey and Westwoodside. The strange, rugby-style romp is one of the oldest local traditions in the country and will now feature on Amazon and Apple TV as part of a documentary series on British customs. The game is reported to have begun after Lady de Mowbray lost her silk riding hood as she rode between Haxey and Westwoodside. Delighted by seeing locals chasing after it, she is said to have granted them land on the condition that the event was re-enacted annually. © stock.adobe.com/Laiotz © stock.adobe.com/Syda Productions © stock.adobe.com/GertrudStart your story this Christmas at Warren Wood View - Gainsborough or Cambridge Green - Grimsby 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes from £184,995 Stunning new development’s close to Lincoln, blending modern living with the city near by, in the towns of Gainsborough and coastal Grimsby.
