It has receivedsome serious TLC, been renovated extensively, and most importantly presents agarden one would love to get lost in.16-19.qxp_Layout 1 13/11/2018 09:29 Page 1LINCOLNSHIRETODAY17HOMESCromwell View is a gardener’s haven placedperfectly in the heart of Caistor - the smallmarket town located at the foot of theLincolnshire Wolds. The home is only a shortwalk from Market Square, close to Hull, Grimsbyand Cleethorpes, not far from HumbersideInternational Airport, offers easy access to theM180 and is just a 3-minute walk away from theOFSTED ‘outstanding’ Caistor Grammar School- one cannot deny that it is in a great location.Cliff and Jill have lived in the four-bedroomhome for almost 6 years and were actually18 Á16-19.qxp_Layout 1 13/11/2018 09:29 Page 218 LINCOLNSHIRETODAYHOMESdrawn to the property because of itslocation. Cliff said: “We lived in Caistornearly 2 miles out prior to this, and justwanted to be further into town itself. Thehouse is in the nicest part of Caistor, which really is saying something becauseCaistor is beautiful in itself - it’s a lovelyplace to live. When we bought it, theproperty had been on the market forthree years, and if you’d seen it then, well, you’d have known why!”Indeed the house was in somewhat ofa state when they arrived, but Cliff andJill were up to the challenge, and havecertainly been successful, investing in theproperty to complete a significantamount of work to renovate the home. When asked about what has been doneto the home, Cliff said: “Everything, thefirst week we moved in central heatingwent in, plastering was done, we had anew kitchen put in, fitted the doubleglazing throughout, made extensions tothe workshop, created patio areas - whathaven’t we done to be honest!”When stepping into the home, one iswelcomed by a bright entrance hallwhich offers access to all ground floorrooms. The kitchen is to the left of theentrance, which has actually been redonetwice during Cliff and Jill’s time at thehome. The kitchen is fitted with a rangeof modern high gloss base and wall unitswith an integral fridge freezer anddishwasher. It has plenty of space for alarge range cooker, and has a usefulutility area.To the right of the entrance hall, firstly,is the sitting room, which has a featurebrick fireplace that is fitted with atraditional style gas stove and Frenchdoors that lead out to the garden.Continuing down the hall one will findthe dining room through double doors, which Cliff and Jill are currently using asa home office. From the diningroom/office French doors open out to arelaxing decked seating area. There isalso a bedroom and a toilet at the end ofthe hall. Upstairs one will find a furtherthree bedrooms, all of which are fittedwith modern wardrobe units with slidingdoors, and a bathroom which has both adouble shower cubicle and a bath.16-19.qxp_Layout 1 13/11/2018 09:29 Page 3The real gem of the property though is itsimmaculate gardens, which actually won theDaily Mirror’s‘Best Front Garden’ in 2015 – nottoo bad considering, as Cliff said, “it was aquagmire” before the couple got their handson it! The gardens have several seating areas -one of which provides seating underneath aplanted pergola roof - and gravelled windingpaths that meander through the lawns andplanting, which is tiered to different levels. There is also a sloped area to the rear of thegarden which is planted with a range ofestablished flowers and shrubs that lead to awildlife area on the far boundary. A smallcalming stream and ornamental pond can alsobe found in the garden which three naturalsprings feed in to. When asked what hisfavourite part of the garden is, Cliff said:“Honestly, every bit of it. Everywhere you sitthere is something different to look at. Though, the log cabin at the top is lovely as you get acompletely different view of the garden from upthere. I also like that even though we have abig open plan garden, it is totally private.”Outside, to the back of the property, there isalso a large workshop, which was formerly adouble garage. To the side of the workshopthere is a secured storage area and to the rearanother storage shed. One should also notforget to mention the large double driveway atthe front of the house which offers off roadparking for four cars, and the additional spacefor parking at the top of the garden wherethere is further gated access to the property. There is even space for a new garage to bebuilt with a turning area, which Cliff and Jilladvise no planning permission would berequired for.Cliff and Jill are now selling the home. Butafter putting so much work into the place, especially the gardens, why? Cliff said: “It’s timeto downsize. Though the garden is easy to takecare of now everything is established, I’m 65years old.” Cromwell View is now on the marketfor £350,000 with Sanderson Green.16-19.qxp_Layout 1 13/11/2018 09:29 Page 4Next >
