This Christmas is a different matter. Of course, we urge caution and care this festive season, but – government announcements permitting – it will be a season of parties, get-togethers, and shindigs. So you’ll want to feel fabulous dressed up to the nines. First up we need to talk about skin; specifically winter skin. Too many of us still use the same old skincare routine all-year round and expect that to suffice. Well, suffice it to say, it won’t. In summer, stronger UV is needed, as well as all that excess sweat to think about, but when it comes to winter, there’s a different set of elements to deal with. Biting icy wind can leave skin dry, chapped, and sore, so ensure you arm yourself with a quality moisturiser that offers full nourishing coverage. Although it’s drearier and darker this time of year, you’ll still need some UV protection to preserve skin health. The same is true of hair. The cold and wind are your enemies here, so switch it up this season with products that are going to protect against the winter weather. Hand cream is also a must, as much for preserving soft, sensual hands as well as cuticles and nails. After all, it’s Christmas, you’ll want to get a manicure, right? So get those digits looking their very best. You wouldn’t give an artist a torn and dirty canvas now, would you? That’s the necessities taken care of, but what about all this glitz and glamour we promised you? With make-up, we’d recommend playing it cool, classy, and timeless. We’re talking smoky eyes, red lips, and a good foundation. There’s a reason certain looks never go out of style. Where hair is concerned, it’ll depend on length. For longer looks, wearing it thick and lustrous around your shoulders with a sexy dress will always make an impact, while a professionally styled updo has an immediate impact. When it comes to shorter looks, try mixing things up with some styling cream or wax. Worn with the right outfit and make-up, short cuts are a bold and stylish choice. We’re not about to discount the importance of hair and You’d be forgiven for forgetting what it’s like to get dolled up for festive get-togethers, but fear not, Lincolnshire Today has got you covered. make-up, but when it comes to festive and New Year parties, the dress is where it’s at. There’s no shortage of fashion inspo when it comes to frocks, but once again we’d recommend keeping it classic and classy. Remember that cliché, that inside every woman’s wardrobe is a little black dress? Well, in many cases that’s true. The best thing about black – aside from its timelessness – is that it literally pairs with everything. The festive shades of red, gold, and green will dazzle when set against a lovely black number, whether that’s clothing accessories or jewellery. Speaking of jewellery, you’ll definitely want to be adding some Christmas sparkle to your look. Don’t get us wrong, gold’s lovely and all, but there’s something more effortlessly evocative and elegant about silver, don’t you think? Picture the scene: dressed in a slinky black dress, with matching heels, a red shawl or scarf about the shoulders, and at the throat a string of diamonds set in silver. Just divine. Going traditional is all fine and dandy, but there’s nothing wrong with wanting to go for something more on trend. Whatever your preferred neck-line – be that plunging, rounded, scooped, or otherwise – the mini dress is a major trend this season. They’re endlessly versatile and don’t need a whole lot adding to have an impression, making them an ideal option for Christmas and New Year parties. Pair with kitten heels and a clutch bag and you’re all good to go. For something slightly less risqué, but still just as stylish, you can always opt for a midi dress with a fun, flirty patten to compete with the Christmas decs. Maybe you’re after something a bit more ballroom. In that case, only the quintessential party dress will do. That’s right, we’re talking about the gown. To really maximise the fabulousness, opt for an off-the-shoulder option in chiffon or tulle. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the excellent trouser and blazer looks out there. A sharp, black suit paired with a red blouse will be a devastating look this season. The Santa hat is entirely optional. The friend may say ‘I’ve had a bit of filler’ and that may be all they needed or wanted to share, but all individuals are different and require a personalised approach. Therefore, my assessments may result in the recommendation of a multi-treatment approach or more options, these can include, weight loss goals, injectables, skincare and some energy-based procedures. Communicating this to patients can be difficult; especially if they’re convinced that all they need to do to be the next Kylie Jenner is to have half a millilitre of lip filler. Most lips require at least a 1ml syringe to see any difference at all. Some patients may be scared of lip filler all together and then other options for issues such as fine lip lines (commonly known as smoker’s lines) like micro needling sessions or mono pdo threads. Sometimes just good skincare is in order - I can do a skincare assessment. A ‘holly’ holistic approach to skincare and aesthetic treatment With the festive season upon us, and more social events back on track this year we all want to look our best and may consider or be wondering about face and body aesthetic treatments. © stock.adobe.com /deagreez 38-39.qxp_Layout 1 19/11/2021 09:10 Page 1LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY 39 HAIR & BEAUTY As there are some expensive creams out there with some undesirable effects for the skin, skip the impressive packaging this Christmas, the ingredients are what you need to look at. For anti-ageing you especially want retinol (vitamin A), hyaluronic acid (holds hydration in your skin) and vitamin c and e. Most ‘off the shelf’ creams may either have unhelpful preservatives or perfumes in them or just won’t have the delivery system, which is how it gets into your skin, or may not have the strength needed to treat the skin so it’s important to do some research before making a purchase. If a patient has malar separation (cheeks starting to sag), naso labial folds (nose to mouth lines) or Jowls, then the answer can either be to reinstate the volume with a volumising filler or to reposition the fat in the cheeks using pdo threads or a combination of both. It is this fat separation along with facial bone changing that causes these lines and folds as we age and so, ho ho ho if you’re struggling to lose weight, yes, I can offer ways to help you in the new year, but for now, enjoy your mince pies and use this as a plus side! Keep that fat in your face as the more you lose the further down it slides! The case pictured opposite has some clear separation, a descending jowl and was starting to see folds in the naso labial and oral commisure (downward mouth). She was very happy with this subtle yet good result. Most people want to keep their treatments confidential (which their medical records and information is at my clinic anyway) but don’t want to look obviously ‘done’ and most women don’t even like their husbands to know so a subtle effect is always better or ‘less is more’ as the saying goes. So, as we get celebrating the festivities, I have gift vouchers available and also a competition for a 2022 website model aged over 45 with no prior aesthetic injections (but open to try) who has the above-mentioned malar separation symptoms. So, can I make the improved you for 2022? Interested please visit www.flawlessaestheticclinic.co.uk for more information.
