< Previous20 LINCOLNSHIRETODAYClassic meets contemporaryAnouska and Elliott Peckett havecreated a stunning home in Tealby thatoffers all the comfort and class you’dexpect from a traditional Lincolnshiredwelling – but they’ve also introducedthe latest technology to save energy andcope with all the stresses and strains ofthe 21st century.Elliott grew up in this part ofLincolnshire – his mother still lives notfar away in Risby and his sister still livesin Tealby – and bought Brook Houseseven years ago. The house, in parts, dates back 160 years and was originallytwo cottages side-by-side – the frontdoor is one of the original doors fromthat period. Later it became asomething more like its original state.Elliott also changed many of the roomsaround – the hugely attractive andflexible kitchen and living space, forexample, has been completelyrevamped from the study it once was.As Anouska tells us, “He spent twoyears renovating it and by then I’d methim so I moved in with him.”The traditional feel of the house iscontrasted with a subtle and intelligentintroduction of technology. One of themost impressive aspects is the mediacentre, which links up the whole housewith their computer, TV, DVD, musicplayer and so on. Each of the mainrooms contains a box which meanswheelwrights’ cottage and was laterused to service Bayons Manor, a grandstately home that was once owned byCharles Tennyson, the uncle of LordTennyson and was a famous landmarkin the village for many years before itwas demolished in the sixties. All thefruit and vegetables used in BayonsManor were grown in the grounds ofBrook House and the staff would queueup at the bay window to receive theirwages.Since Elliott bought Brook House, thehouse has been completely replumbed, rewired and revamped, with many ofthe more recent additions andalterations removed to return it toClassic meets contemporaryBrook House in Tealby mixes classic design with the latest technologyHOMES20-28:Layout 1 23/1/12 09:07 Page 1LINCOLNSHIRETODAY21HOMESyou can start listening to music in oneroom and then seamlessly continue inanother room. Throughout the housetoo, sensor lighting is in use, automatically switching on the lightswhen you walk into each room – it’salmost like walking across a film set!The kitchen, meanwhile, benefitsfrom a host of attractive, bespokefurniture. An aga again gives across arustic feel while items such as theoven and dishwasher have been builtin. Anouska says, “Elliott designed alot in here and his mum also came upwith plenty of ideas. She should be aninterior designer, she’s got a fabulouseye for design.”An illustration of the flexibility ofThe kitchen and livingspace at Brook House isa great illustration of theflexibility the livingspaces offer23 Parts of Brook House date back some 160 years and since ElliottPeckett bought the house seven years ago he has stripped awaymany of the later additions to return it to nearer its original state20-28:Layout 1 23/1/12 09:07 Page 222 LINCOLNSHIRETODAYSUNNY BLINDSwww.sunnyblinds.org.ukSUNNYBLINDS & CURTAINS OF LINCOLNSHIREEVERY SOLUTION FOR YOUR WINDOW FASHIONS...VERTICALS - VENETIANS - ROLLERS - ROMANS PLEATEDS - WOODENS - BLACKOUTS - INTUPERFECT FIT - PLANTATION SHUTTERSCURTAINS & POLES - AWNINGS & CANOPIESWINDOW FILMS - CONSERVATORY ROOF FOILSCONSERVATORY, STATIC & PARKHOME BLIND & CURTAIN SPECIALISTSNEW MADE 2 MEASURE & READY MADE CURTAIN COLLECTIONSFREE MEASURING & FITTING SERVICEBRITISH BLINDS & SHUTTERS MEMBERSDOMESTIC & COMMERCIALThinking of Interior Wooden Shutters?CALL US FOR YOUR FREENO OBLIGATION QUOTATION & SURVEY20%OFFOFFER ENDS 16/03/2012SUNNYBLINDS & CURTAINSSHOWROOM @ 126 ROMAN BANK, SKEGNESS, LINCOLNSHIRETel: 01754 896 558 or 0800 458 9117 www.sunnyblinds.org.ukCooks and CompanyCook House, Brunel Drive, Newark, Notts, NG24 2FBTel: 01636 593910 www.cooksandcompany.co.ukOpening Hours 9am-5pm Mon-Sat Closed SundayA Sub-Zero is just a refrigerator like a diamond is just a stoneExperienceSub-Zero inour brand new, purpose builtshowroom..A Sub-Zero is just a refrigerator like a diamond is just a stoneExperienceSub-Zero inour brand new, purpose builtshowroom..21 years of design excellence...21 years of design excellence... It wouldcertainly be possible to transform itback to its previous role. In addition,Anouska points out that the officethey used could also be an additionalbedroom, and they have planningpermission to remove the existingconservatory and build an extensionacross the whole width of the rear ofthe house.Anouska and Elliott have dedicatedtwo of the bedrooms to become aguest area. As Anouska’s family comefrom Essex, they often welcomevisitors and by shutting the door theentire area can become completelyself-contained. Again, much of thefurniture here is built-in andBrook House is currently on themarket with Perkins, GeorgeMawer & Son and for moreinformation, call 01673 843011.completely bespoke. Anouska andElliott can also easily entertain – notjust with the media centre in everyroom but thanks to the huge garden atthe back of the house.Brook House is now on the market.Anouska tells us that one reasonthey’re looking for somewhere new isbecause, as Elliott had alreadyrenovated the home before she movedin, she hasn’t been able to put herown stamp on it. Now that Anouskaand Elliott are married, and have plansfor a family, they’re looking forsomewhere that emphasises both theirpersonalities. There has already beensome interest in the property, although such is the quality of thehome that Anouska admits that shewouldn’t be too sad if they end upstaying. It could come from a picture book, but this is Brook House last winter20-28:Layout 1 23/1/12 09:07 Page 424 LINCOLNSHIRETODAYHOMESAHF in Lincolnis growing fastAHF may be the new boys in town – butthey have a long-established reputation forquality and value with their furnitureAHF’s Lincoln store at Unit 7 on the Valentine Retail Parkoff Tritton Road only opened in early December – but alreadyhas a string of satisfied customers.AHF’s Matt Hesketh says, “We’ve been thrilled by thewelcome we’ve received.
