The organ is still one of the most unique features of the cinema and it is situated in Screen One and played regularly by The Kinema’s resident organist, Alan Underwood. The Kinema currently has three auditoriums, all used for screenings. A 92- seat auditorium, Kinema Two, was opened on Friday July 8th, 1994, with a screening of Four Weddings and A Funeral. The auditorium walls of Screen Two depict scenes of rural Lincolnshire in trompe l’oeil style painted by Canadian artist Murray Hubick. In June 2019 a third auditorium was opened, with a screening of the film Yesterday to an invited audience. The Kinema in the Woods is now run by a local family business and offers screenings of new releases along with old favourite classics. The Woodhall Spa Kinema is no ordinary cinema, it offers visitors a unique experience that will transform the simple screening of a film. Speaking of woods, The Pinewoods is a hidden gem that can be found in the heart of Woodhall Spa. The 7.6-hectare wood, property of the Woodland Trust, surrounds the Kinema and it is a must see in Woodhall spa. From extraordinary animals to century old trees and other magnificent plants and fungi, The Pinewoods is home to the most spectacular local wildlife and provides visitors with an amazing experience. The first pine trees were planted by John Parkinson in 1811, the woods grew as the Victoria Hotel did and became a favourite relaxation spot for visitors. During World War II, The Pinewoods played a fundamental role as they were used by the 617 Squadron, based at RAF Woodhall Spa, to hide and conceal their vehicles and weapons. Today The Pinewoods are a three-mile trail that provides visitors, walkers, cyclists, horse riders and nature enthusiasts with breath-taking views and a beautiful escape. Finally, just outside the centre of the village is Jubilee Park, 10 glorious acres of picturesque, ornamental gardens and bandstand, highly rated camping and caravan facilities, children’s play area, sensory garden, bowling green, croquet lawns, cricket pitch, tennis club, putting green, outdoor table tennis, a café and a fabulous lido, making it the best place to go for a fun family friendly day out. Woodhall Spa might seem like a normal small village, but its captivating history, wonderful natural features and extraordinary landmarks actually make it a fascinating, beautiful gem in the heart of Lincolnshire, a must see that will offer visitors an exceptional experience.
