Cameron tries to hold the EU toransom and comes back empty handed, so instead of bringing back lots of bargainingpoints and be the saviour of the day and the general public would all get behind him atthe referendum and vote to stay in, he came back with absolutely nothing and now hasegg on his face from the whole exercise. I for one don’t see how we’ve got any option other than to leave the EU after this fiasco. Then again wasn’t the EU just all a scheme, instigated primarily by the Germans, to takeover the whole of Europe with them at the helm? (Bit of deja vu there).L DayBostonPuff puff, bangDear Sir,How ironic that a member of public should be injuredwhen a battery from an e-cigarette exploded in his trousers, leaving him with second-degree burns. Perhaps the military can repurpose them as an incendiarygrenade? It is worth noting though, that any powerful battery in yourpocket, which comes into contact with keys or coins cancause a similar reaction. My dear wife evidently does as her present to me this year, for mybirthday, was a “health band” which, rather uniquely, sends an alert to hersmart phone whenever I ‘m static for longer than 15 minutes. She assuresme it will add years to my life - isn’t progress just marvellous?T GoodmanLincolnThe winner of ourletter of the monthwins a case of wine10_Layout 1 18/03/2016 13:58 Page 1Village01522 568822www.pygott-crone.comlSales lLettings lMortgages lConveyancing lAuctions lCommercials lAgriculture l Relocation lAsk about our ServicePersonnel IncentiveFollowing the blinding success of Phase One with allNew Builds now SSTC, and many of the Grade II Listedproperties completed, we are delighted to announce therelease of Phase Two, with a fantastic selection of bothNew Build and Grade II Listed Properties. With that in mind, we’ve put together the best of thebest, as it were, from our visits to readers’ homes to bringyou inspiration for your own home makeover. And you’llbe pleased to note there’s not one Ikea or LaurenceLewellyn moment amongst them…First up is the living room and there are several pointersthat will serve you well. Encourage discourse by placingsofas or grouped seating in a way that stimulatesdiscussion. Avoid having everything facing the TV as apartfrom the fact there’s precious little worth watching thesedays, attention will be fixed towards that corner.Flooring wise - there are some great laminate flooringoptions but you might also want to consider re-purposedtimber or ceramic tiles with a rug to add warmth. Carpetsare making a comeback too, but ensure you opt for up-PHOTO: WWW.THROUGH-THE-LENS.CO.UKA passion for livingThe good weather is finally here, well almost, so there’s no better time to get off the sofaand spruce up your home. But where do you start and how do you make the most of this, your single biggest investment?17 Á14-21_Layout 1 18/03/2016 12:15 Page 216 LINCOLNSHIRETODAYHOMEMAKER - HOMESWWW.THROUGH-THE-LENS.CO.UKPHOTO: INFINITY FIRESWWW.LUDLOWSTOVES.CO.UK14-21_Layout 1 18/03/2016 12:15 Page 3LINCOLNSHIRETODAY17market materials as they’ll not onlystand the test of time but also create areal wow factor. Adding underfloor heating can alsosave you on utility bills and create acozy environment. The same can be saidfor your choice of main heating, sowhilst central heating is all well andgood, there’s nothing to beat the appealof flames licking from a hearth on coldernights. Of course, lighting the home correctlyis also paramount – too dark and you’llfeel hemmed in, too light and can resultin a clinical feel. But be sure to maximisethe amount of natural light by yourchoice of window dressings. For traditionalists there’s nothing quitelike curtain fabric which can help frame18 Áyour windows but can affect the amountof light entering. Blinds make greatoptions – especially if you live in a sunnylocation, as I do, where the sunlight spoilsTV viewing on a weekend. When it comes to entertaining, youmight want to think of what system you’llbe fitting in the house. These days it ispossible to connect wirelessly to speakersand so on but if you’re a traditionalist ora retro kind of person and still have yourvinyls then you might want to considerrouting your speaker wires behind yourwalls or under the flooring. It’s a smallinvestment that can really add a touch offinesse. We all want what is,essentially the ‘hub of the home’ to be agreat conversation piece. While some optfor the rustic appeal of a range others liketheir high tech counterparts. It really is acase of personal choice and many homeowners are mixing and matching the twonowadays. You don’t have to rip out the oldkitchen and start again either as there isthe option of simply replacing doors ifyou’ve merely grown tired of your oldlook. Personally, I love the look and feel ofgranite worktops as they seem to lastforever, but on the flip side, if you opt fordark colours they do seem to needcleaning all the time. Some people run their lives from theirkitchen and it has become the norm toinclude a table and even a sofa so youcan do your home finances, sort outhomework and allow guests to makethemselves comfortable while chattingover a coffee, whenever they visit. Bathrooms are another well frequentedroom in the home as well as a place tode-stress. Take your cues from the spasyou’ll have visited around our county orthe many hotels you’ll have frequentedand add a touch of luxury. There arehuge choices when it comes to bathroomsuites and sanitary ware and, hopefully, you’ll only be doing this makeover theonce so it’s worth investing a little more20 Á14-21_Layout 1 18/03/2016 12:15 Page 5LINCOLNSHIRETODAY191: Nu-flame Energis Range Open Fronted up to4.99kW & 79.7% Efficient u2: Flavel Strata RadiantOutset 5.2kW & 84% efficient u3: Valor DreamSlimline Homeflame Glass Fronted 3.1kW & 89%efficientBurning Sensation(Grimsby) LtdArmstrong Street – Grimsby – DN31 1XDTel: 01472 351651www.burningsensation.co.ukuHigh Heat Output uHigh Efficiency uGas Fires u123Cooks&CompanyTalk to our experts01636 593910At Cooks & CompanyLacanche range cookers are the home cooks ultimatedream – a 100% bespoke range cooker service withan incredible rustic feel hailing from its Frenchheritage.
