Now that we’re movingtowards summer however, we can certainly all look forward to the sunwe’ve heard so much about in more tropical climates. There are always two sides to summer. There’s the part of us – andthe local authorities – that encourages us to go out and enjoy theweather, to be active and make sure we’re living life to the fullest. Then there’s the part that tells us that the sun could kill us, that weneed to be careful and that too much of something good will inevitably be a badthing. One thing to look forward too though, is the Lincolnshire Show, which will beheld on the 22nd and 23rd of June this year. As always, Lincolnshire Today willbe there with our stand and food and drink, so please be sure to pop by for anibble, tipple and if you’re feeling friendly – even a quick chat! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, because we’ve got all of May ahead of usfirst, and it’s not something we’d want to miss. Our May issue is packed full ofall articles and ideas, perfect inspiration for the month ahead.Lincolnshire has always been an old place – it didn’t show up overnight afterall, but this month we delve into the heritage of Lincolnshire throughout theages, including a detailed talk on the history of sleepy Caistor. We also visitBoston to look at an area that was once considered second only to London, now a fantastic tourist destination. From summer recipes to new fashion, homes and gardens – you’ll find it all inour packed May issue of Lincolnshire Today. So take a load off this month, sitback, have a read and enjoy what Lincolnshire has to offer. Maybe that word doesn’t quitedescribe it enough, how about we go with insane? Freak storms, hurricanes, gale-force winds and let’s not forget the flooding of past years. My son tells me it’s climate change and by this point I’m willing to believe him. We’ve been warned about this for years and while we all mostly ignored it, theproof of it happening has become ever more obvious. What I wonder however, is why all the politicians are keeping so quiet on this?No one mentions climate change when it comes to these disasters, and it alwaysseems to be missed out of any manifestos. Do they not care, or do they believethat if they never mention it, we – the easily fooled public – will somehow not notice? It boggles belief…C Smith,WalthamEditor: We can’t change the way the working day works Katie, but here’s a cute picture of a dog having a siesta for you. Hope it suffices. Artistic touchDear Editor,Fantastic to see artists become a thing withinyour magazine once more. It always amazes mewhat kind of quirky and interesting things theycreate, and while I don’t always buy anything fromthem, it still makes for an interesting idea.I always have this plan of filling my home withcompletely unique pieces that no one can evercopy or have – but there always seems to besomething that gets in the way. Spain may betalking about scrapping the siesta, but can we getone here in Lincolnshire?Katie WSpaldingPICKOF THEMONTHPHOTO: SHUTTERSTOCK.COM/JAVIER BROSCHShould we stay or should we goDear Lincolnshire Today,I received one of those leaflets through the door recently in regards to theBrexit. I had a read through it but frankly have no idea what to think either way!I’ve always been quite neutral myself, but the entire thing was so biased that Icouldn’t help but feel put-off by the Government. On the other hand I’m not sure what the benefits of leaving are either… wehear about uncertainty, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, is it? Even if thechanges we receive are fantastic and improve the quality of life a million-fold,there would still be a brief period of uncertainty as the laws change. Do weforever sacrifice that chance just because we are scared of uncertainty – nevergetting better or worse but sticking with what we have now for all eternity?Or will either of the parties start to explain the reasons we SHOULD vote forthem… rather than the reasons we shouldn’t vote for the opposition. I’m filledwith reasons why I shouldn’t vote for leave and why I shouldn’t vote for stay, buthave no idea what I should be voting for.Brian SimpsonLincoln The winner of ourletter of the monthwins a case of wine08_Layout 1 18/04/2016 09:42 Page 1Escape to your very own seaside getawayOwn your own holiday home at Golden Sands Holiday Park, MablethorpePark cannot be used as a permanent residence.
