< PreviousTaxing thesickDear Lincolnshire Today,So, parking fees are on the rise once again atLincoln County Hospital and hospitals acrossthe county? Surely this is wrong on so many differentlevels – what they are doing is taxing peoplewho are visiting the outpatients department orsick relatives. People who park at the hospitalare simply being targeted as a revenue stream–they certainly don’t charge abroad for parkingat hospitals and yet we’re told our economy isgrowing faster than Germany or America? . I appreciate the need to stop people parkingat hospital and wandering off site into town etcbut there should be a validation scheme wherepatients and visitors can have their ticketsvalidated to put back into the machine withoutcharge (if they can do this in Oncology thenother depts could do likewise) . At best this price hike is simply is a backdoor way of making people pay for treatmentin a health system that is already paid forthrough taxation and national insurance.T GoodmanLincolnReaders’lettersWe’d love to hear from you. I was unfortunate enough to have to find ahome for my poor old mum who was sufferingwith dementia before she passed away – in mysearch I saw some pretty awful ones so maybethe competition from this one will make othersinvest in theirs and improve the lives of so many of our senior citizens. When you’veexperienced, first hand, a loved one having to endure this terrible disease it’sabhorrent to have to stick them in a care home that seems to care little for theirresidents – especially when my poor old mum was charged over £500 per week! I goon all inclusive holidays for less! Fortunately there are some good ones out there but still too many that seem tooffer as little as possible. One can only hope increased competition will drive up thequality. No wonder UKIP are doing so well in the polls at this moment intime – a recent report revealed that some 60% of people planning tovote for UKIP in this month’s elections also intend to do so at the 2015general election so unless politicians stop dipping their hands in the tilland being awarded plum jobs by their colleagues then K Barnard couldbe absolutely right. My bet is there are tons of other, impressionable, first time voters outthere who feel the same way too!
