For many people it’s something you only do once, perhapstwo or three times at a push, so there is a real incentive to get it right on thefirst try. While many may have been dreaming about and planning their perfectwedding for years before, reality is often different to fantasy and there areunfortunately a lot less exciting aspects to consider than the dress and theparty. Luckily, help is on hand – often in the form of wedding organisers, of which63 Á© Shutterstock / Natalia KabliukWeddings can be a lot of fun,but when people say that theyusually mean either the eventor a few choice parts of thepreparation. The reality is thatweddings require a lot ofplanning – not all of it exciting.Outsourcing those bits, however, can let you focus onthe truly exciting parts of yourspecial day.M60-71.qxp_Layout 1 21/05/2018 15:44 Page 260-71.qxp_Layout 1 21/05/2018 15:44 Page 3LINCOLNSHIRETODAY63WEDDINGSLincolnshire has quite a few. A lot of that is thanks toLincolnshire being home to a host of fabulous venuesand wedding experts who have the knowledge andexperience to turn your plans into reality. Some peopleare wary of making use of wedding planners andspecialists, though, envisaging that their own views willbe marginalised and that they’ll become bit-partplayers in a standard tried-and-trusted weddingtemplate recycled for every other couple. But that’s almost never the case. The role of awedding specialist is to help make things happen, nottell you what those things are going to be. Their skilland experience in organising special events mean they65 Á© Shutterstock / Galina Tcivinahave an innate knowledge of what will and won’t workin that context. This mean they’ll be able to let youknow if one of your big ideas is likely to be unworkablebefore you’ve made a commitment to it – or think of amore effective way to do it that will be just asglamorous but less expensive. You can even outsourcethe parts of the wedding planning you find tedious, saving the exciting parts for yourself and asking thewedding planner to make sure everything else fits in linewith your vision. Is the venue licenced toplay music or serve alcohol? Are there going to befacilities to cook and store the food or will you have tohire some equipment? Might you need insurance incase something crops up at the last minute? One does have to consider what kind of people willbe coming to the event, however. Unique amonganything you plan it’s likely that your wedding guestlist will be far more diverse than any other event, withguests’ ages ranging from nine months to ninety years. They’ll all have different tastes and expectations of theevent and while obviously it’s your big day and you’llhave the final say, you wouldn’t want your guests to gohome disappointed. This applies to food and drink as much as it does theentertainment – especially when you might haveguests not only with different palettes, but also thingsthey can or cannot eat. Accommodating all of this canbe difficult but most venues will be able to handle it aspar for the course. They are no doubt more used topreparing for a wide range of fussy eaters than you will71 Á© Shutterstock / Wedding photography60-71.qxp_Layout 1 21/05/2018 15:44 Page 10Next >
