But if there’s onething that most people know our county for, then it’s aviation.Lincolnshire is known as Bomber County because of the number ofactive airfields within its borders during World War II. Some 49airfields dotted our landscape back then, more than any other countyin the UK. The average distance between airfields was just 7.5 milesand 28 of the airfields had bombers flying in and out of them. This month’s Lincolnshire Today therefore celebrates this rich vein of aviation historyby looking at the way it has shaped the county. We’re celebrating the past, presentand future of flight in the region throughout the issue – and with the school holidaysstarting, there are plenty of ideas of places to take the kids this summer.Of course, our busy schedule of summer shows continues, and also takes a flyingtheme as we once again pitch our marquee at the ever-enjoyable Waddington AirShow. So, when you’re not gasping at the amazing men and women in their flyingmachines zooming above, then pop by for a drink and a chat – it’s always great tosee readers old and newMany thanks to the many who found time to say hello at the Lincolnshire Showtoo - we hope you enjoyed the entertainment and sumptuous refreshments, courtesy of Jocasta’s catering. It was another great event for us and, I’m sure, forthe thousands of people who make the Show one of the best of its kind in the UK. Ifyou picked up one of our great competition shoulder bags, in this issue you can seeif yours contains one of the winning numbers. If you’re not a winner on this occasion, don’t worry – just bring your bag with youto any of the shows we’re attending this summer and if your bag corresponds withthe numbers in our marquee you could still win a great prize.Good reading, as alwaysSteve FisherEditorLincolnshireToday@lincstodaylincolnshiretoday.netEditor:Steve FisherJournalists:Steve Williams, Mike Shields, Michael Fisher, Stuart PearceySales Director: Teri CooperSales Manager: Angela CooperSales: Marie Rudd, Kathy NilesAccounts: Angela Sharman,John DownesCirculations: Dawn CookDesign & Production: Gary Jorgensen,Mark Casson, Rachel GreenAdvertising: Tel: (01472) 310302, Fax: (01472) 310312 Editorial:Tel: (01472) 310305, Fax: (01472) 310317Part Of The Business Link MagazineGroup: Armstrong House, Armstrong Street,Grimsby,N E Lincs DN31 2QEEmail: lincs-today@blmgroup.co.uk Website: www.lincolnshiretoday.net ISSN No: 1366-1299© All rights reserved. Most farmers realise that they can growtheir business by focusing on existing assets and makingthem work harder. Good luck to them, I say.P ShortSpilsbyBin it!Dear Lincolnshire Today,I was reading on your website that more than 168 tonnes of litterwas picked up around Cleethorpes over May’s two recent bankholidays.
