What a change this gloriousBritish summer makes – so far, anyway – after last years washout.Of course, we Brits always moan about the weather. It’s either toocold, or too hot. We’re never really happy, but we saw quite a fewhappy faces in our marquee at the Waddington Air Show, which wasanother fantastic event attracting over 120,000 visitors to marvel atthe displays. This really is an event that has found its feet in recentyears, and a special thanks must go to the Lincolnshire Today staff who battledthrough desert-like temperatures to make every visitor to our stand welcome. Lookout for our stunning pictures from the event in this issue.Of course, August is a time when we traditionally pack all our things into a bulgingsuitcase only to end up sat in an airport terminal, which for some inexplicable reasonhas its air conditioning turned off, while we wait for a flight which has been delayedfor 36 hours. I suspect many readers will be jetting off again this year. But, as I lookback on how many years of my life have been consumed sitting in airports andstanding in queues, I do wonder why more don’t explore our own surroundings alittle more often. Lincolnshire is beautiful and has so much to offer – let’s neverforget that, or the fact you don’t need to put up with French air traffic controllersholding us to ransom. We’ve got plenty of ideas on how to make the most of the summer in thismonth’s Lincolnshire Today, from ever-popular events such as the Anthems in thepark at Cranwell through to Superbikes at Cadwell Park. In fact we’ve a whole hostof hidden gems. We’ve also got lots of advice to help you make the most of yourgarden and stay cool in the intense heat. And if, by the time this issue hits the shelves, the hot weather is already a distantmemory, there’s loads more to read while you shelter from the rain!Good reading, as alwaysSteve FisherEditorLincolnshireToday@lincstodaylincolnshiretoday.netEditor:Steve FisherJournalists:Steve Williams, Mike Shields, Michael Fisher, Stuart PearceySales Director: Teri CooperSales Manager: Angela CooperSales: Marie Rudd, Kathy NilesAccounts: Angela Sharman,John DownesCirculations: Dawn CookDesign & Production: Gary Jorgensen,Mark Casson, Rachel GreenAdvertising: Tel: (01472) 310302, Fax: (01472) 310312 Editorial:Tel: (01472) 310305, Fax: (01472) 310317Part Of The Business Link MagazineGroup: Armstrong House, Armstrong Street,Grimsby,N E Lincs DN31 2QEEmail: lincs-today@blmgroup.co.uk Website: www.lincolnshiretoday.net ISSN No: 1366-1299© All rights reserved.
