It is in fact the DB9 GT. A 547 hp, 5.9-litre V12 that sprints to 60mph from standstill in less than 4.5seconds and boasts a top speed of 183mph. Of course, top speed isn’t the only reason this engine hasbeen uprated – Aston decided as it’s the last one they’replanning, before embarking on the DB11, they should go allout and produce the best they possibly can.To mark the occasion and differentiate the GT there’s a fewsubtle changes on the outside, but the suspension and set upremains the same, which perhaps suggest the designerscouldn’t better what was already in place. Inside the GT itsmarvelously old school, with wonderfully fluted leather, a GT-branded head restraint, and Iridium trim pack. There’s alsoa copper finish option for the upholstery, which, wehave to say, looks far better than it sounds. Some might say its old school in its thirstPHOTO: WWW.MAXEAREY.COMTHE DEFINITIONOF AN ICONfor fuel too at only 19.8 mpg, and CO2 emissions of 333g/km,but that doesn’t make it any less desirable. Despite its size, its amazingly stable to drive – thanks to itsrear-biased weight distribution and limited-slip differential. Themore powerful engine helps too. The highly responsive six-speed touchtronic gearbox completewith steering-column-mounted paddle-shifters adds to the driverexperience and triple-mode adaptive dampers allow the driver tochoose their preferred style of ride and handling. All in all a very desirable car that just got a little moredesirable...lets hope the DB11 looks and feels as good.74-75_Layout 1 14/09/2015 11:16 Page 1LINCOLNSHIRETODAY75COUNTY MOTORINGEngine: 6.0-litre V12Price: £140,000Power: 547hpTorque: 457lb ft0-62mph: 4.5secsTop speed: 183mphFuel economy: 19.8mpgCO2 emissions: 333g/kmFACTFILE74-75_Layout 1 14/09/2015 11:17 Page 276 LINCOLNSHIRETODAYWHAT’SONCaistor Throughout September Richard Chuck – Art Exhibition, Caistor Arts &Heritage CentreRichard Chuck grew up on the Lincolnshire Wolds, which seeped into and informed his art.
