Lincoln Castlehas received £12 million from the Heritagelottery fund, and was up against six otherprojects. The vote was open to the public and,despite more than 4,000 votes in its favour, thecastle was kept off the top spot by the FirstWorld War in the Air gallery at the Royal AirForce Museum.
