Taurus Apr 21 - May 21 Time spent with a loved one enables you to determine exactly which direction you must go in next. Forever seeing to this and that, not to mention the needs of selfish, demanding people who assume that you are always available at the ‘drop of a hat’, you are right in making a stand, once and for all. Aquarius Jan 21 - Feb 19 After all the twists and turns in your daily work or personal life, reassuring news from an unexpected source will succeed in putting a happy smile on your face as well as a few extra quid in your pocket. Pisces Feb 20 - Mar 20 An exciting encounter with a stranger could lead to further meetings because you will both share a similar need to be with someone who has an intelligent, stimulating mind coupled with a great sense of humour. Residents in Keelby recently held a candlelit vigil in memory of two hawthorn hedges. Yes, you read that right. The Parish Council ordered that the hedges be removed from the village green and replaced with fencing. Despite an online petition, locals couldn’t stop the bulldozers from shuffling the hedges off this mortal coil. Now, we’re all about protecting nature, and certainly any hedge is preferable to metal fencing, but holding a vigil, really? There’s rather a few more pressing issues to be dealing with. 82 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY Stay in touch with Lincolnshire Today We love to know what you think of Lincolnshire Today – so get in touch with us via Twitter at @lincstoday or search for us on Facebook. Send your rib-ticklers to d.cuthbert@blmgroup.co.uk Cleethorpes launches its own gin The so-called ‘ginnaissance’ isn’t showing any signs of slowing down, but with even Aldi selling a unicorn variety, have we reached peak gin? Not in Cleethorpes, apparently, where shop and bar Message in a Bottle is launching its very own brand. The Cleethorpes Hopped Gin has been launched in collaboration with Louth’s Bottomley Distillers and, according to Message in a Bottle, “adds a beery option to their collection of Lincolnshire spirits”. Cleethorpes might be late to the gin party, but the thirst for this spirit isn’t going away anytime soon. Residents hold candlelit vigil… for a hedge Region’s most used funeral songs revealed The things people like says a lot about them, so perhaps nothing is quite so revealing as one’s choice of funeral song. North and North East Lincolnshire’s top ten farewell songs have been revealed by Co-op Funeralcare and, well, it’s all a bit cheesy. There was a few cheeky, fun ones, including Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and Doctor & The Medics’ ‘Spirit in the Sky’, but there was also Celion Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’, Wet Wet Wet with ‘Love is All Around’ and, taking the number one spot, Bryan Adams with ‘(Everything I do) I Do It For You’. Surely there’s less saccharine, cliché and cheesy songs to see you off into the afterlife. Or perhaps we’re all just that obvious, unremarkable and thoroughly predictable.
