I am inspired by my family and myhome. There can be an idea that comesfrom a chat down the pub that I’llsuddenly think of as well. I have atelescope as well, which has meant theplanets and stars have made it into mywork too. The wholegarden needs to flow, otherwise it canend up looking like a series ofafterthoughts! If you are looking to create the perfectoutdoor space and make significantchanges, you need to be thinking aboutit now and start planning, otherwise theend results could be compromised. I have been called out numerous times28 LINCOLNSHIRETODAYGARDEN ADVICELast month I was writing after a monthof storms. This month there seems to belittle or no change! It is still cold, windyand very wet. However, if you lookclosely, spring is getting ready. The daysare starting to get longer and there aremany varieties of bulbs poking up abovethe soil. Now it truly is the start to a newyear in the garden. While there are still limited dayspleasant enough to venture out into thegreat outdoors in, use this time wisely. Itis a great time to plan ahead as it is easyto forget, but in around six weeks or so,you will be battling to keep up with thefrenetic pace of a British garden in thespring time. As soon as we have somesunshine and the nights are warmer, everything bursts into life. Now is a good time to check over yourweapons and see if they are ready for thewar on the weeds! Ideally you will havestored them correctly with a lightcoating of oil to stop them rusting.Service your mower yourself or if you arenot mechanically minded, take it tosomeone that can look after it, as comelate March there could be a six-weekto rescue a garden makeover where theytried to design and built a garden in asingle weekend. Every hour spentdesigning the garden will save days ofback-breaking work. A well-designedgarden should look like you have spentmore than you have! With clever use of materials andsimple design rules, you can get it rightfirst time instead of redoing it sixmonths later when you realise thedesign of the garden doesn’t work whenyou have the neighbours round for agathering!Springinto the garden!Ed Fuller of Fullers Forestry and Landscapingis back again to offer you some sage adviceabout the potential a new spring should bring.028-029:Layout 1 14/2/14 14:54 Page 1LINCOLNSHIRETODAY29GARDEN ADVICEYou wouldn’t get anextension to your housewithout consulting anarchitect or at the very leasta builder. I always suggestthat because it’s human to beinquisitive, we want to see plansand know what the end result willbe. The same should be said for yourgarden. It is the first thing that people see from the front andrear of your house and rightly or wrongly, it does paint apicture of who lives in the house. Don’t think of your gardenas just a place to park the car or hang out the washing, but asthe largest room in the house, albeit outside!Awell-designedgarden shouldlook like youhave spent morethan youhave!Specialised Servicesin Garden DesignLandscaping andTree MaintenanceBacked by a highly-skilledand experienced team,we’ve built our reputationon an ability to provide our clients with professional, tailored gardening and forestry solutionsFREE NO OBLIGATION QUOTATIONSCall 01522 868717 or 07867 510544info@fullerforestry.co.uklwww.fullerforestry.co.ukwww.landscapinglincolnshire.comFULLERSForestry & Landscaping028-029:Layout 1 14/2/14 14:54 Page 2Next >
